SkyView Acres Star Party Location

This location available only by prior arrangements
It is not available for drop-in viewing

NOTE: Since this is private property, it is NOT available for use without specific permission.

Facilities: Porta-Potty & Ten 8'x8' concrete pads plus a large flat mowed pasture (no animals).

NO water available at the site, but only 5 PAVED miles to Goldendale if you need supplies or want to stay in a motel.

Bring what you need.
Enjoy the dark skies.
Take everything you brought back home.

At 2,800', Skyview Acres has similar skies to the RCA Maupin site, but with much less light-bubble to the west. Minor light bubble from Yakima and the Tri-Cities area and some glow from The Dalles. Good horizons.

Nearby points of interest: St John, a Greek Orthodox Monastery's bakery, deli, and gift-shop (about 5 miles north of Woodland Road, on US97), Goldendale Observatory State Park, Maryhill Museum and Stonehenge Peace Memorial

Red Light Courtesy in effect all areas:
Astro Photographers should use the southern-most areas and use a red covering for their screen.
Early departures or late arrivers: Use the north end of the facility and mind your white lights.
Attendees should expect some car traffic ~ 10:30pm if anyone is returning from the Goldendale Observatory, which closes at 10:00pm

Come and observe your favorite objects and spend a wonderful evening with friends, and friends you haven't met yet.

If you have any further questions email the Star Party Chairman.

You have to zoom out a 4 steps to see the route.

5 miles NE of Goldendale, WA.. Approximately 120 miles from Portland

All roads, except the 200 yard-long driveway are paved

From the South, i.e. Interstate 84 or Highway 14, follow Washington Highway 97, Northbound, to the 16 and 1/2 mile marker, just North of Goldendale

On Highway 97, around mile post 16 and 1/2, you will make a turn, Eastbound, onto Woodland Road.

Follow Woodland Road, Eastbound, about 5 and 1/2 miles, noting that the mail box numbers are increasing. (Several 90 deg. turns)

Upon reaching the mail box number 536, you will see signs, KCSP and green stars, directing you to make a right hand turn into Skyview Acres and Whitney Oak Gardens.

Skyview Acres is on the right at the end of a long driveway. You will see a blue 8'x40' "Chow Yang" shipping container, HAM radio antennae on the property as well as the ten 8'x 8' cement observing stations. Note: The driveway is "double-wide" at the road, the shorter right lane belonging to a small horse ranch and the longer lane belonging to SkyView Acres.
